Overview
Kodiak Trail Works is looking for a Full-Time Mapping Technician (NOC 22214)! This is a full-time, permanent position with 40-50 hours per week, $37.00/hour.
Job Description:
Use GIS and GPS tools to flag trail corridors, map topography, and ensure alignment with design specifications.
· Ensure that our mountain bike and multi-use trail systems are built to the highest ecological standards, minimizing impact on local watersheds and sensitive habitats.
Conduct pre-construction site assessments to identify sensitive flora, fauna, and watercourses.
Design and implement erosion control measures and drainage systems (culverts, grade reversals) to manage water runoff based on local soil science.
Execute high-level trail features, including rock armouring, retaining walls, and sustainable tread excavation using specialized hand and power tools.
Ensure all field work aligns with Nova Scotia Environment (NSE) regulations, project-specific environmental permits, and other applicable regulations.
Job Requirements:
· Completion of a post-secondary college program in geomatics, cartography, photogrammetry, aerial survey, remote sensing, geographic information system (GIS) or related.
· Language in the workplace is English
