Overview

Black Diamond Bar & Grill is looking for a Full-Time Sous Chef (NOC 62200)! This is a full-time, permanent position with 30-40 hours per week.

Job Description:

·         Supervise and coordinate activities of line cooks, prep cooks, and other kitchen staff

·         Ensure food is prepared to the highest quality and presentation standards

·         Maintain consistency in taste, portioning, and plating across all menu items

·         Oversee food preparation during service and ensure timely delivery of orders

·         Monitor kitchen inventory and assist with ordering and receiving supplies

·         Enforce proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures

·         Train new kitchen staff and provide ongoing coaching to team members

·         Step in for the Executive Chef during their absence or unavailability

·         Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu development and recipe testing

·         Manage and reduce food waste through proper storage and portion control

·         Ensure equipment is properly maintained and report any malfunctions

·         Conduct daily checks of food storage areas for cleanliness and organization

·         Help coordinate catering or special event kitchen preparation as needed

·         Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service

·         Monitor kitchen staff performance and assist in scheduling shifts

·         Maintain a clean and organized workstation and oversee overall kitchen cleanliness

·         Support the implementation of cost control measures and kitchen budgeting

·         Stay informed on food trends, dietary preferences, and seasonal ingredients

·         Assist in handling customer feedback and making real-time adjustments when needed

Job Requirements:

·         Minimum 2-3 years of experience in commercial food preparation

·         Language in the workplace is English

We offer:

·         $35.00 per hour
