We are currently seeking an Engineering Survey Technician to join our growing team at Bay City Contractors.

Key Responsibilities:
•        Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain advanced surveying instruments, including Total Stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, digital levels, and electronic distance-measuring equipment to perform high-precision field measurements.
•        Construction Layout and Staking: Interpret engineering plans and digital design files to accurately mark out building corners, road alignments, site boundaries, and elevation points using stakes, pins, or markers.
•        Field Data Collection and Documentation: Conduct topographic and site surveys to collect geospatial data; maintain systematic field notes, sketches, and records of observations for further office analysis.
•        Quality Assurance and Verification: Assist in monitoring construction progress by verifying that installed structures, excavations, and grades align strictly with the approved engineering design and specifications.
•        Data Calculation and Processing: Perform preliminary field calculations for coordinate geometry, leveling closures, and volume estimations; assist in the preparation of detailed survey plans and technical reports.
•        On-site Coordination and Safety: Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and engineering teams to ensure surveying tasks are completed on schedule while strictly adhering to occupational health and safety regulations.

Terms of Employment:
•        Permanent, full-time position
•        Language: English
•        Wage:$29 – $31/hour (negotiable)
•        Hours: 40 – 50 hours per week

Location(s) of Work:
Work will primarily be conducted on-site at various construction or land survey projects within Thunder Bay and surrounding areas.

Skills & Qualifications:

Education:
College diploma in surveying, civil engineering technology, or a related field.

Experience:
1–2 years of experience in land or construction surveying preferred.
