Truck Drivers

Overview

Arrow Transportation Systems Inc – Kamloops, BC is looking for five (5) Full-Time Truck Drivers (NOC 73300)! This is a full-time, permanent position with 40-70 hours per week.

Job Description:

·         Oversee cargo handling and secure loads, including equipment preparation, application of safe practices, compliance with applicable Acts and Regulations.

·         Perform pre and post and en route trip inspections on equipment operated, ensuring safety, roadworthiness and regulatory compliance.

·         Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, load securement, driver’s hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods, and weights and dimensions.

·         Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics.

·         Efficiently maneuver truck and trailer(s) into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.

·         Check mobile equipment (i.e. frontend loaders) to ensure that mechanical and safety equipment is in good working order.

·         Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles to the relevant supervisor.

·         Report all safety hazards or conditions encountered at load, unload, yard and shop sites.

·         Record, Maintain and Check all relevant paperwork (i.e. bill of lading,) and documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.

·         Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.

·         Complete electronic and/or manual logs of working hours and of vehicle service and repair status, following applicable provincial and federal regulations.

·         Communicate effectively and courteously with the public, customers, and co-workers.

·         Assist in loading and unloading of trucks.

·         Perform periodic inspections before, during, and after delivery to ensure that load is properly fastened down and is secure.

·         Ensure that material is properly protected from the outdoor elements. Tarping loads may be a requirement.

·         Ensure that any debris caused by the loading/unloading of truck is cleaned up.

·         Provide feedback to supervisor/dispatch regarding customer problems, mechanical problems, or delivery problems.

·         Ensure that all customers, co-workers and the public are dealt with professionally and with respect.

·         Train others when required.

Job Requirements:

·         Class 1 truck driver’s license

·         Experience driving a logging truck is an asset

·         B train or equivalent, and mountain and offroad driving experience is an asset

·         Winter and Mountain driving experience

·         Tire chaining experience

·         Must provide job references

·         Must be willing to complete a pre-employment drug test

·         Must be willing to complete a pre-employment physical test

·         Ability to move 100 pounds, lift 50 lbs overhead and lift to shoulder height 75lbs

·         Ability to sit long durations

·         Language in the workplace is English

We offer:

·         $38.13 per hour trip rate (with increases or other trip rates based on collective bargaining agreement)

Usual rotes will be within Kamloops, Vernon, and Cascades operating areas.
